OpenAI says Sol comes close to GPT-6 Astra on coding, computer use and professional work. Its safety addendum says the company ran the evaluations in research settings or through the API. Those results can differ from production ChatGPT.
OpenAI supplied the performance comparisons. Its claim that Sol costs one-fifth as much uses Astra’s standard input and output rates as the benchmark. Sol was not available in ChatGPT Chat at launch.
Independent tests can measure how much completed work costs at the published token rates, including the cost of retries.
